<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;">Earlier this year REO, part of The Treasury Holdings Group, was forced to drop plans for a £4m eco-dome and chimney development at the site which was intended to house a massive 2.5m sq ft of <a title="Battersea Office Space" href="http://www.easyoffices.com/Serviced-Offices/uk/London/London-South-West/Battersea" target="_blank">office space</a>.  A number of concerns were voiced by opposition parties regarding the proposals and the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, also raised issues over the size of the project’s chimney structure which would interfere with city views of the Palace of Westminster from the Hungerford and Waterloo Bridges.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;">New plans are said to include 1.5m sq ft of office space alongside 3, 700 homes, a substantial amount of retail, a hotel, restaurants, leisure space and community facilities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>If given the green light the proposals would mean a major rejuvenation of the Battersea area and its commercial standing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;">However controversy continues to surround REO’s new application with local resident’s group Battersea Power Station Community Group (BPSCG) having attended this weekend’s public consultation armed with a list of hard-hitting questions for the developer. The group has campaigned to protect the Grade II listed site against demolition and continues to show concern over REO’s <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>long-term objectives for the site. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana;">Questions for the developers were listed on the BPSCG website ahead of the public consultation, including: “Why are you projecting so far ahead for renovation of the power station and the surrounding buildings?….Is it all just smoke and mirrors to pretend that things will happen until the credit crunch is solved or the Power Station falls down releasing you from it’s renovation and then to sell the cleared site for luxury flats?”. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span></span></p>

Retaining it within the development, e.g. as an office for a small company, or a cafe or a gallery (or combination of these) would be a straightforward matter. For this reason BPSCG will oppose any attempt by Treasury to seek its demolition.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span> New proposals are now being developed which are not thought to significantly reduce the amount of office space that was originally planned for the site.  For the BPSCG website news section <a title="BPSCG Home Page" href="http://www.batterseapowerstation.org.uk/news/latest_news.html" target="_blank">CLICK HERE</a>.&#8221; <span style="font-size: 11pt; color: #000000; font-family: Verdana;">For related articles see “<a title="Link to related article" href="http://blog.easyoffices.com/index.php/offices-to-rent-in-battersea-proposal-part-iii/392/ " target="_blank">Offices to Rent in Battersea Proposal Part III</a> ”</span></span></p>
